Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Tuesday claimed the lives of two individuals, the Lebanese health ministry reported. Israel stated that its operations specifically targeted members of Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant organization. These attacks come despite a November ceasefire that concluded over a year of hostilities, including two months of intense conflict between the two sides.

According to Lebanon's health ministry, one person was killed when an Israeli drone struck an excavator in Yater. A separate airstrike in Deir Aames claimed another life and left one individual injured. The ongoing targeting of civilians and alleged militants highlights the fragile nature of the truce and the continuing volatility in the region.

The Israeli military confirmed its operations, claiming responsibility for the deaths. It said Mahmud Ali Issa of Deir Aames was killed for allegedly coordinating financial and military support between Hezbollah and local villagers. Additionally, Israel stated that a Hezbollah operative in Zibqin, operating an engineering vehicle near Yater, was killed while allegedly attempting to rebuild militant infrastructure.

Strikes in southern Lebanon have become a near-daily occurrence, with Israel emphasizing that Hezbollah remains the primary target. The United Nations, however, has raised concerns over civilian casualties, verifying 103 deaths since the November ceasefire and urging an end to the escalating humanitarian impact in affected communities.

Monday's attacks preceded Tuesday's strikes, highlighting a pattern of sustained military pressure. One previous strike killed a man who had earlier been blinded by Israeli attacks and also claimed the life of his wife. Israel's operations often focus on destroying Hezbollah's logistical and communication capabilities, such as pagers and walkie-talkies, further straining civilian life.

Hezbollah, weakened by the previous war, is facing increased international and domestic pressure to relinquish its arsenal. Under U.S. and Israeli influence, Lebanon's government is developing plans to disarm the group. The Lebanese army has outlined strategies to begin operations in the south, signaling potential shifts in regional security dynamics.
