Israel's military has confirmed the killing of Muhammad Abd al-Aziz Abu Zubaida, the top leader of the Islamic State group in Gaza. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strike took place in the Bureij area last week under the direction of the Southern Command and military intelligence units.

Abu Zubaida was the most senior figure in the Islamic State's Palestine branch. He was in charge of setting strategies, planning operations, and supervising attacks carried out across Gaza, the West Bank, and the Sinai Peninsula. His leadership made him a central figure in the group's activities in the region.

The IDF explained that Abu Zubaida played a major role in strengthening the group's presence in Gaza. He was responsible for coordinating the transfer of weapons, managing funds from the West Bank, and organizing fighters involved in armed clashes with Israeli troops.

The elimination of Abu Zubaida is seen as a significant blow to the Islamic State's operations in Gaza. Military officials described the mission as a key step in weakening terrorist networks that continue to pose threats both inside and outside the territory.

Israel has said it will continue targeting terrorist leaders and infrastructures in Gaza. The military emphasized its commitment to preventing further attacks by groups that threaten regional security and stability.

This operation reflects Israel's ongoing efforts to disrupt extremist organizations operating in Gaza. By removing high-ranking figures like Abu Zubaida, the IDF aims to limit their ability to coordinate attacks and destabilize the region.
