The Israeli military has acknowledged that Palestinian civilians were harmed at aid distribution centers within the Gaza Strip. Following these incidents, new instructions have been issued to Israeli forces.

Since Israel lifted an 11-week aid blockade on Gaza on May 19, limited UN deliveries have resumed. However, the United Nations reports that over 400 Palestinians have been killed while trying to access humanitarian aid.

The military stated that "thorough examinations were conducted" after reports of civilian harm at distribution facilities. Lessons learned from these incidents have led to updated guidelines for troops on the ground.

A senior UN official revealed that most of those killed were attempting to reach aid sites managed by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). The GHF began distributing food in late May.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly criticized the US-backed aid operation, calling it "inherently unsafe" and stating, "It is killing people." He expressed concerns about its impartiality and neutrality.

Israel's Foreign Ministry countered, asserting its military never targets civilians and accusing the UN of opposing the GHF. This exchange highlights the ongoing tension and challenges in humanitarian aid delivery.
