Iran Warns US: Retaliation Targets American Bases Now

Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has issued a powerful warning. He stated that Iran will retaliate against any future U.S. military aggression, specifically targeting American bases across the Middle East. These remarks, broadcast on state television, are his first public comments since the recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel.

Khamenei, 86, had been in a secure location since the conflict began. Speaking from an undisclosed site, he declared Iran's recent missile strike on a U.S. military base in Qatar as "a slap to America's face." He claimed the U.S. entered the war only to prevent Israel's defeat, asserting Iran emerged victorious.

He also downplayed the impact of U.S. airstrikes on Iran's nuclear infrastructure. Khamenei accused President Donald Trump of exaggerating their success to mislead the public. His defiant tone comes amidst domestic celebration in Iran, despite reports of severe damage and losses.

In a significant move, Iran's Guardian Council approved a law suspending cooperation with the UN's nuclear watchdog, the IAEA. Cooperation will only resume once Iran certifies its facilities are safe and peaceful. This decision reflects Iran's firm stance on its nuclear program.

Meanwhile, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff expressed willingness for diplomatic talks in Oman. However, Iran has not confirmed participation. Officials are still assessing their uranium enrichment capabilities after joint U.S.-Israeli airstrikes, with the Foreign Ministry acknowledging "severely damaged" facilities.

Khamenei made no mention of proposed talks. Instead, he reiterated that Iran would never surrender to U.S. demands, particularly what he called Trump's goal of "unconditional surrender." His comments highlight Iran's unyielding position, suggesting future military actions could quickly escalate.
