A high-level Nigerian government delegation has landed in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. Their purpose is to receive the remains of the late business icon and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, for his burial in the holy city.

Dantata, a hugely prominent industrialist and philanthropist from Nigeria, passed away in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Saturday at the age of 94. His passing marks the end of an era.

The delegation, which left Nigeria on Sunday night, reached Madinah early on Monday, June 30, 2025. This was confirmed by Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant to the Minister of Information.

Leading this significant delegation is the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar. Other key members include the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Information, and the Minister of State for Housing.

Prominent Islamic scholars, including Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar and Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, are also part of the group. The Nigerian Consulate General in Jeddah received the delegation, overseeing funeral plans.

The funeral for the respected statesman is set for later on Monday, in line with Islamic traditions. Dantata had a lifelong wish to be interred in Madinah, a request granted by Saudi Arabia.
