On the fifth anniversary of the devastating Beirut port explosion, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has reaffirmed his government's commitment to justice and accountability. The explosion, which occurred on August 4, 2020, remains one of the most powerful non-nuclear blasts in world history.

In a public statement shared by the Lebanese presidency on X, President Aoun described the explosion as a horrific crime that deeply affected both Lebanon and the international community. The disaster killed over 200 people, injured thousands, and caused massive destruction in the heart of Beirut.

President Aoun declared that the Lebanese government would not rest until the full truth behind the explosion is revealed. He emphasized that no obstacle—whether political or legal—would stop the pursuit of justice, no matter the rank or influence of those involved.

"Justice will not die," Aoun said firmly, stressing that holding the responsible parties accountable is not just a demand, but a national obligation.

He further assured the people of Lebanon that fair and transparent investigations would continue. The president said he would push all relevant authorities to do their part and ensure the process remains free from interference.

The Beirut blast left a lasting scar on the nation. As Lebanon remembers the victims, the call for justice grows stronger. President Aoun's renewed promise brings hope to those still seeking answers and healing, five years after tragedy struck the capital.
