Nigerian Muslims Urge Arab Nations to Stop Gaza Betrayal

Muslim Awareness International (MAI) has strongly criticized many Arab governments for their silence and complicity in the ongoing Gaza crisis. At a major press conference in Anthony Village, Lagos, the group accused Arab nations of failing to stand against what they called genocide and deliberate starvation in Gaza. They condemned recent calls for Hamas to disarm while the root causes of occupation remain.

MAI Director, Abdul Waheed Atoyebi, said forcing resistance groups to disarm without ending Israeli occupation is unjust. He explained that true solidarity means supporting oppressed people, not weakening their defense. Atoyebi also condemned the Arab League for empty statements and warned that normalization deals with Israel weaken the Palestinian cause.

The event, themed "End Gaza Genocide Now", had representatives from several Muslim and human rights groups, including MPAC, MSSN, Al-Mu'minaat, IIHH, IMN, and Quds Foundation. They all expressed frustration at how some Arab leaders are pressuring victims of oppression instead of confronting the oppressors.

Barrister Rasheed Atta, Director of IIHH, said disarming Hamas while ignoring the suffering of Palestinians would only worsen the crisis. He called for real peace based on justice, resistance rights, and equal recognition. "No true peace can exist while oppression remains," he said.

Al-Mu'minaat leader Hajia Balqees Abdullah urged global faith communities to speak out, donate, and hold their leaders accountable. She emphasized that the Gaza crisis is a moral issue that affects all of humanity.

The conference ended with a strong call for a permanent ceasefire, urgent humanitarian access, and full international recognition of Palestine as a free and sovereign state.
