Pakistan Nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

Pakistan has formally nominated former U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. This nomination cites his "decisive diplomatic intervention" during a dangerous escalation between India and Pakistan earlier this year.

The Pakistani government commended Trump's "pivotal leadership" in May, when cross-border strikes led to the worst regional conflict between the **two nuclear-armed nations since 1971**. This violence caused dozens of casualties and raised alarms about a potentially broader war.

A U.S.-brokered ceasefire was reached on May 8, even as strikes continued in the disputed Kashmir region. Both India and Pakistan claim this territory in its entirety.

Pakistan's official statement highlighted Trump's "great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship" through robust diplomatic engagement. They credited him with helping to "avert a broader conflict... that would have had catastrophic consequences."

The statement further asserted that this intervention "stands as a testament to his role as a genuine peacemaker and his commitment to conflict resolution through dialogue." This underlines Pakistan's view of his critical contribution.

Under Nobel Prize rules, governments and certain institutions can nominate individuals. While tensions now flare in the Middle East with Israel-Iran conflicts, Trump has often presented himself as a global peacemaker.
