Hamas has stated that Israeli hostages in Gaza will not receive better food than the rest of the people in the war-torn region. In a statement released by the group's military wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas explained that captives are being fed the same way as its fighters and the general population in Gaza.

The group denied intentionally starving the hostages but clarified that special food privileges would not be allowed. "They eat the same food we eat. There is no special treatment in the face of the siege and hunger forced upon our people," the statement said.

Hamas also expressed willingness to allow humanitarian aid to reach the hostages, but with conditions. It said that aid efforts by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) would be considered only if food and medicine are also allowed to flow freely to the entire Gaza Strip.

The group added, "We are open to working with the Red Cross to deliver food and medicine to the hostages. But this can only happen if humanitarian corridors are opened for all civilians in Gaza."

This statement follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's appeal for the Red Cross to provide food to Israeli captives. The ICRC also made a public call demanding access to the hostages through a message posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The situation highlights the continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where food and medicine shortages have worsened due to the ongoing conflict and Israeli blockade.
