The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (Rtd.), also known as Gomo II, has passed away at the age of 81. He died in a London hospital after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of military service and traditional leadership.

The late monarch is survived by four wives and seven children. His death has thrown the Zuru Emirate and Kebbi State into mourning, as he was regarded as a noble and respected ruler. His passing marks the end of nearly three decades of service as Emir, following a distinguished military career.

Confirming the sad news, Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Umar-Dutsinmari, said the government received the news of his death with deep sorrow. He extended condolences to the Emir's family, the Zuru Emirate Council, and the people of Kebbi State. He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.

Born in 1943, Muhammadu Sani Sami joined the Nigerian Army, rising to the rank of Major General before retiring. He later ascended the throne as the Emir of Zuru in the mid-1990s, where he ruled with wisdom and dedication.

Senator Bala Ibn Na'Allah also expressed grief over the monarch's passing, describing him as a leader who brought dignity and respect to his people. He noted that the loss extends beyond Zuru Emirate to the entire Kebbi State and Nigeria.

The Emir of Zuru will be remembered for his remarkable contributions to national service and his enduring impact as a traditional ruler who guided his people with honor and humility.
