The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, June 6 and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to celebrate this year's Eid-ul-Adha festival. This announcement was made in a statement released on Monday, June 2, 2025, by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, speaking on behalf of the government.

He congratulated all Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the arrival of Eid-ul-Adha, one of the most significant Islamic festivals. He encouraged Muslims to embrace the lessons behind the celebration, which include sacrifice, obedience, and strong faith, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon him), who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.

The Minister urged Muslims to reflect deeply on these values and to live them out in their daily lives. He also encouraged everyone to take this period seriously by praying for the continued peace, unity, and prosperity of Nigeria, especially during these trying times.

He emphasized that this festive season should not just be about celebrations and sharing, but also about remembering the less privileged, promoting love, and building a better nation through acts of kindness and sacrifice.

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Interior, wishes all Muslims a joyful and peaceful Eid-ul-Adha celebration. Citizens are encouraged to celebrate responsibly and observe all necessary safety and religious guidelines during the holidays.

As Muslims gather to celebrate this holy event, the spirit of sacrifice and devotion should continue to inspire positive change across the country.

Let this festive season be a time of unity, compassion, reflection, and national progress for all Nigerians.
