The son of Boko Haram founder Mohammed Yusuf has been arrested in Chad along with five other terror suspects, according to reliable sources. Reports revealed that the young man, identified as Muslim Mohammed Yusuf, was allegedly leading a jihadist cell before his capture.

Boko Haram, founded in Nigeria in the early 2000s, has caused years of violence across the Lake Chad basin. The group has carried out deadly raids on villages, military posts, and civilians. Although weakened in some areas, its factions continue to operate actively, with Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) being the most dominant.

Chadian police confirmed the arrest of six suspects but did not officially identify Yusuf as the son of the late Boko Haram leader. However, Nigerian intelligence sources stationed in the region insisted that Yusuf was indeed among those caught. They also claimed the suspects were linked more closely to ISWAP than to Boko Haram itself.

Sources revealed that Yusuf was just a baby when his father was killed by Nigerian forces in 2009, during a crackdown that left hundreds dead. Now believed to be about 18 years old, Yusuf reportedly used the alias Abdrahman Mahamat Abdoulaye.

Photographs obtained after the arrest showed a slim young man in a blue tracksuit, closely resembling his late father, standing among other detainees. A former Boko Haram insider also confirmed the arrest.

This development follows the recent capture of other top terror leaders by Nigerian authorities, signaling a growing effort to weaken extremist groups in the region.
