NEW YORK: Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized a unified Arab and Muslim vision to end the Gaza conflict, calling for an immediate ceasefire and coordinated reconstruction. Speaking at the 80th UN General Assembly, he highlighted the urgent need to halt Israeli military operations and initiate rebuilding efforts.

Abdelatty stressed, "The first step is ending this unjust war," underlining that stopping Israeli aggression is essential to pave the way for peace. He proposed training a Palestinian security force under the Palestinian Authority's oversight, supported potentially by UN-mandated international forces to ensure stability.

As a transitional measure, Arab nations recommend a neutral, non-partisan administrative committee to temporarily govern Gaza. This approach aims to maintain order while preparing the territory for full Palestinian Authority control. Abdelatty also called for an international conference to implement a comprehensive Arab-Islamic recovery plan.

The minister pointed out that the main obstacle is the lack of political will from the Israeli side. He emphasized coordination with the US and Qatar to secure the release of hostages and ensure humanitarian aid reaches Gaza efficiently, reflecting the Arab commitment to both security and human welfare.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan echoed this vision, highlighting that Gaza's reconstruction must be sustainable and part of a long-term solution rather than a temporary fix. "When we transition to a ceasefire, reconstruction must be ensured to be lasting," he said, reinforcing the need for strategic planning.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, head of Saudi aid agency KSrelief, expressed optimism about the future of Palestine. He noted increasing international recognition of Palestinian rights and reaffirmed that a two-state solution remains the only viable path to lasting peace and regional stability.
