The World Health Organization (WHO) has urgently demanded an immediate end to Israeli attacks targeting health care facilities in Gaza. The call came after Palestinian officials confirmed that at least 20 people were killed when Israeli airstrikes hit a hospital in southern Gaza.

WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed deep concern over the continuous destruction of medical centers during the ongoing conflict. He emphasized that civilians in Gaza are already facing extreme hunger, and losing access to health care makes the humanitarian crisis even worse.

"While people in Gaza are being starved, their already limited access to health care is being further crippled by repeated attacks," Dr. Tedros said in a statement shared on social media platform X. His remarks reflect growing alarm among international health and human rights organizations.

Hospitals and clinics are meant to be safe havens in times of war, yet Gaza's medical workers continue to risk their lives daily to treat the wounded. The repeated attacks have left many hospitals damaged, medical supplies scarce, and doctors overwhelmed by the rising number of casualties.

The WHO chief's message was clear and direct: "We cannot say it loudly enough: STOP attacks on health care. Ceasefire now!" His call adds to mounting international pressure for an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians and medical staff.

As the conflict continues, health experts warn that Gaza's health system is nearing collapse. Without urgent global intervention, thousands more lives remain at risk in the war-torn enclave.
