Saudi Arabia has cemented its position as a global leader in public financial auditing and accounting by being elected chair of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). The announcement was made at the 25th General Assembly of INTOSAI, held in Sharm El-Sheikh under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This recognition underscores the Kingdom's growing influence in international governance and public-sector oversight.

The General Assembly confirmed that Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Court of Audit (GCA), will assume the chairmanship of INTOSAI in 2031 for a three-year term. This prestigious role places the Kingdom at the helm of an organization that encompasses supreme audit institutions from over 195 countries, marking a historic milestone in Saudi Arabia's auditing and financial leadership journey.

As chair, Saudi Arabia will host global delegations and play a pivotal role in shaping international standards for financial and performance auditing. This leadership position empowers the Kingdom to advance transparency, strengthen public-sector governance, and enhance government performance, while fostering greater trust in national and global economic systems.

GCA President Dr. Hussam Alangari congratulated King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their unwavering support, noting that the Kingdom's international standing and credibility have enabled GCA to reach this achievement. He emphasized that this milestone reflects the confidence the world places in Saudi Arabia's governance capabilities.

Dr. Alangari highlighted the transformative developments within GCA, including enhanced organizational independence, advanced technical and human capacity, and innovative auditing methodologies. These initiatives have enabled the institution to deliver impactful audits, improve public-sector effectiveness, and contribute to a higher quality of life for citizens.

Looking ahead, Dr. Alangari expressed the Kingdom's readiness to host the world in 2031, inviting global leaders to Riyadh to collaborate on advancing transparency, governance, and governmental efficiency. Saudi Arabia's leadership of INTOSAI promises to shape a more accountable, effective, and trustworthy global public-sector landscape.
