Sanusi claimed his statement was taken out of context and sensationalized, emphasizing that his original speech included nuanced support for the government and acknowledgment of the sacrifices Nigerians face due to past economic mismanagement.

The controversy began when Sanusi stated he wouldn't advise the government on addressing economic challenges, citing the need for the administration to behave like a friend.

Yhe Federal Government reacted, saying they don't need Sanusi's approval on Tinubu's policies, labeling his comment as "deeply disappointing".

Sanusi countered, explaining that his speech was misrepresented and reduced to a single paragraph. He highlighted the importance of supporting the government's reforms and recognizing the light at the end of the tunnel despite decades of mismanagement.
