The Palestinian Health Ministry has reported that more than 62,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in the ongoing Gaza war, which has now lasted for 22 months. This tragic conflict began on October 7, 2023, and continues to bring immense suffering to the population.

According to the ministry, at least 60 people were killed within the past 24 hours, raising the total death toll to 62,004. In addition, more than 156,000 Palestinians have been injured, highlighting the devastating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The report also revealed that nearly 1,965 people were killed while seeking aid. Many of these deaths occurred near aid distribution sites or while trying to access humanitarian convoys, where desperate families gather in search of food and medical supplies. On Monday morning alone, seven Palestinians lost their lives while attempting to receive assistance.

The Health Ministry in Gaza, staffed by medical professionals, does not separate combatants from civilians in its casualty reports. However, its figures are widely recognized by the United Nations and other independent experts as the most reliable source for tracking casualties in the conflict.

Israel has regularly disputed the ministry's numbers, yet it has not provided a detailed alternative count of Palestinian casualties. This has left the ministry's reports as the primary reference for international organizations and humanitarian agencies monitoring the situation.

The staggering death toll reflects the severe human cost of the war. As the conflict stretches on, global calls for accountability, ceasefire, and humanitarian relief continue to intensify.
