President Bola Tinubu has received advice from Muslims in the South-West, who are represented by the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), to increase efforts to lessen suffering in the nation.


The call was made at the 9th MUSWEN General Assembly on Sunday by Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, President of MUSWEN and Deputy President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, the Executive Secretary of MUSWEN, Professor Muslih Tayo Yahya, and Professor Isiaq Lakin Akintola, Director of Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, were all present at the event, according to the DAILY POST.

Speaking at the event, Oladejo insisted that extreme caution should be exercised in handling the nation's current economic predicament.

He counseled Tinubu to act more humanely and implement policies that would lessen the nation's overall suffering.


Speaking further, Oladejo urged Tinubu to use the money saved by eliminating subsidies for projects that would increase security, infrastructure, electrification, food production, and job creation.

He went on to say that importing food should not be taken into consideration because it would be a mockery of the removal of subsidies.

Oladejo also pleaded with Tinubu to pay attention to Nigerians' concerns about the proposed tax reform bill.

The speaker urges the President to address the current economic situation in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for caution and humane measures to alleviate suffering. He acknowledges that the situation is not the result of the Tinubu administration but believes the government should make life comfortable for the people. He also urges the people to avoid politicians who have never seen anything good in the administration, as they view any actions as politicized.

The government's economic policies aim to correct past maladministration and improve the country's economic foundation. They suggest focusing on security, infrastructure development, electrification, food production, and employment-generating projects. They caution against food importation as it undermines subsidy removal. MUSWEN supports distribution of palliatives to the needy.
