Trioli- The United Nations has welcomed Libya's decision to set up two new national committees focused on improving security and human rights. This move comes after recent violent clashes in Tripoli left several people dead and raised global concerns.

One committee will focus on boosting safety in the capital by preventing future clashes and disarming local armed groups. Its goal is to restore peace and ensure the protection of civilians living in Tripoli and beyond.

The second committee will tackle human rights violations in detention centers, especially the issue of people being held without legal process. It will also investigate claims of abuse in both official and unofficial prisons.

Libya remains divided between rival governments in the east and west, with Tripoli serving as the base of the UN-recognized leadership. Armed groups have held significant power since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

Recent violence erupted after the killing of a major militia leader, prompting fresh calls for stronger state control. Prime Minister Dbeibah's government responded with new orders to disband rogue militias and bring law and order.

The UN has promised technical support to help the committees succeed. It says Libyans deserve a peaceful, just, and secure future built on democratic institutions.
