Israeli planes and tanks are heavily striking north and south Gaza, destroying homes and displacing thousands. This military escalation coincides with high-level ceasefire talks in Washington involving a confidant of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Local health authorities report at least 20 people killed in recent strikes, with residential clusters demolished across Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Rafah. Residents describe a terrifying environment, with constant explosions forcing families to flee.

Israel's Strategic Affairs Minister, Ron Dermer, is in Washington this week, meeting with White House officials. He's exploring regional diplomatic deals following Israel's recent conflict with Iran, in addition to efforts to end the Gaza war.

Prime Minister Netanyahu is also scheduled to meet President Donald Trump in Washington on July 7. Their discussions are expected to focus heavily on the future of the Gaza conflict and the prospects for a lasting ceasefire agreement.

Hamas senior official Sami Abu Zuhri emphasized that Trump's pressure on Israel would be crucial for any breakthrough in stalled ceasefire negotiations. He urged the US to "atone for its sin toward Gaza by declaring an end to the war."

Mediators Qatar and Egypt have intensified contacts between the warring sides, but a new round of truce talks hasn't been scheduled. Hamas insists on a full hostage release only if the war ends, while Israel demands hostage freedom and Hamas disarmament.
