Hundreds of retired Israeli security officials have sent an open letter to former U.S. President Donald Trump, asking him to help end the ongoing war in Gaza. The letter was signed by 550 people, including former heads of Israel's top security agencies—Mossad and Shin Bet—as well as military chiefs. They said the war has gone beyond its original goals and now threatens Israel's security and moral values.

In the letter, the former officials stated that Hamas no longer poses a serious threat to Israel's safety. They argued that Israel has already achieved its military goals by dismantling Hamas's fighting forces and ending its rule in Gaza. They stressed that the continued fighting is now doing more harm than good.

Ami Ayalon, a former Shin Bet director, said the war started as a defensive response, but continuing it now is unjust. In a video, he warned that the conflict is making Israel lose both its security and national character.

The letter urged Trump to use his influence over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to push for a ceasefire. It also suggested that Trump can help form a regional alliance to support a reformed Palestinian Authority to govern Gaza instead of Hamas.

The signatories believe a ceasefire would allow the release of Israeli hostages and improve humanitarian aid efforts. They emphasized that military action alone can't bring peace and urged Trump to lead diplomatic efforts toward lasting stability.
Their message is clear: end the war, bring hostages home, and restore peace.
