Pakistan Security Forces Foil Train Hijacking, Free Over 150 Hostages
A daring rescue operation by Pakistani security forces has resulted in the freedom of over 150 hostages from a hijacked train in the restive Balochistan region. The Jaffar Express, carrying over 400 passengers, was intercepted by armed attackers in a remote tunnel on its way from Quetta to Peshawar.

A fierce gunfight ensued between the security forces and the hijackers, believed to be members of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). At least 27 rebels were killed in the firefight, while the security forces managed to rescue 155 hostages, including women and children.
The hostages were taken to a nearby town, Mach, where a makeshift hospital had been set up. However, it is unclear how many hostages remained on board the train, and reports suggest that some may have been taken into the mountains by the rebels.

The BLA, a separatist group seeking independence for Balochistan, claimed responsibility for the hijacking and demanded the release of Baloch political prisoners and missing persons. They also threatened to execute 10 hostages if their demands were not met within 48 hours.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, calling it "cowardly" and vowing to continue the fight against terrorism. The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, which has seen deadly clashes and enforced disappearances in recent months.
