Israel's defense minister urged Egypt to stop two Gaza-bound convoys led by pro-Palestinian activists. He warned these movements might risk Israeli soldiers' safety and cause border tensions. The convoys aim to reach Gaza through Egypt's Rafah crossing but have yet to get Egyptian clearance.

One group, called the Soumoud convoy (meaning "steadfastness"), started its journey in Tunisia and is currently in Libya, heading east. Organizers say they want to break Israel's long-standing blockade of Gaza and need permission to pass through Egypt.

Egypt responded by saying it supports international pressure to end the Gaza blockade. However, it insists all border visits must follow official channels. Egypt will not consider unofficial requests to cross into Gaza.

Another group, the Global March to Gaza, plans to begin its movement from Cairo. Around 4,000 people are expected to join. They plan to walk 50 kilometers to Rafah and camp there for a few days.

Some participants, including French nationals, were detained upon arrival in Cairo or held in hotels. A spokesperson blamed Israel for urging Egypt to prevent the march in Sinai, alleging political pressure.

A detained nurse claimed her group's passports were taken. "They locked us in without explanations," she said in a video shared with AFP.
