Nigeria Southwest Muslim - The Muslim community in Southwest Nigeria, represented by the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), has voiced strong concerns that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has overlooked them, particularly when it comes to federal appointments. This accusation came in a statement released on Tuesday, where MUSWEN shared their assessment of Tinubu's two years in office.

Signed by President Rasaki Oladejo and Executive Secretary/CEO Professor Muslih Tayo Yahaya, the statement alleged that Muslims from the Southwest are not getting a fair share of federal government jobs under the current administration. While acknowledging Tinubu's various achievements over the past two years, MUSWEN emphasized that Yoruba Muslims haven't been included in these successes.

The leading Islamic organization in the Yoruba region specifically claimed they've been denied federal appointments. In their statement, titled "Two years in office: MUSWEN commends Tinubu's achievements, asks him to address marginalisation of South West Muslims in federal appointments," the group expressed disappointment that the number of Southwest Muslims in important federal roles doesn't match the region's population or intellectual contributions. They also argued that this imbalance goes against the Nigerian constitution's principles of fairness and equal representation.

MUSWEN is urging President Tinubu to intentionally correct these imbalances. They highlighted the administration's progress in areas like economic reforms, infrastructure, and national security, but stressed the urgent need to address the lack of representation for Southwest Muslims in federal appointments. They believe that current appointments don't reflect the region's true strength and go against the constitutional requirement for balanced representation across different groups.
