A Nigerian pilgrim, Hajiya Zainab from Plateau State, has demonstrated remarkable integrity by returning $5,000 to its rightful owner, a Russian national, in Saudi Arabia.

The substantial amount of money, equivalent to approximately ₦8.24 million, was found by Hajiya Zainab in Masjidul Haram in Makkah. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Plateau State Pilgrims Board have commended Hajiya Zainab's selfless act, describing it as an embodiment of the values of honesty, trustworthiness, and compassion. Hon. Daiyabu Dauda, leader of the Plateau State Pilgrims Board, praised Hajiya Zainab's actions, saying they exemplified exceptional integrity and kindness.

Meanwhile, NAHCON has confirmed ongoing discussions with Saudi authorities regarding the reopening of visa issuance for intending pilgrims. The commission is optimistic about a favorable outcome and has staff on standby to manage the situation once the visa window reopens.

NAHCON reassures affected pilgrims that it continues to engage with the Saudi authorities to enable them to participate in the pilgrimage. In related news, FlyNas has completed its official airlift of Nigerian pilgrims under the government quota, transporting a total of 41,546 pilgrims.

A special flight has been arranged for May 28 to convey 22 pilgrims who were previously unable to travel due to various reasons. Additionally, UMZA Aviation will operate private flights for tour operators on May 29 and 30. Hajiya Zainab's virtuous act serves as an inspiration to others, showcasing the importance of honesty and kindness.
