Reflecting on Ramadan's Departure
As Muslims worldwide bid farewell to Ramadan 1446AH, celebrating Eid el-Fitr on March 30, 2025, we're reminded that this sacred month will never return. For some, it was their last chance to fast in this lifetime.
Ramadan's mission is accomplished, having revitalized our souls and reconnected us with life's spiritual essence. We've experienced living as Allah's true servants. Now, the real challenge begins – sustaining the lessons and spirit of Ramadan throughout the year.

The True Test of Faith

The post-Ramadan period is crucial, as we have eleven months to translate the lessons learned into action. We must strive to maintain the discipline, sincerity, and selflessness that defined our Ramadan experience. This includes:
Being mindful of our health and well-being
Continuing to read, recite, and reflect on the Quran
Practicing patience, gratitude, and compassion
Cultivating a sense of community and social responsibility

The Pitfalls of Complacency

Unfortunately, many Muslims tend to abandon the spiritual gains of Ramadan soon after the month ends. We must guard against slipping back into old habits and indulgences, instead of nurturing the growth and self-improvement that Ramadan fostered.

Zakatul-Fitr and Eid Celebrations

To mark the end of Ramadan, we're obligated to pay Zakatul-Fitr, a charitable gesture that benefits the poor and needy. On Eid day, we're encouraged to perform ritual baths, wear fine attire, and attend Eid prayers.

Sustaining the Ramadan Spirit
To maintain the momentum of Ramadan, we're advised to:
Fast for six days in Shawwal, which, combined with Ramadan, is equivalent to fasting the entire year
Continue to engage in voluntary prayers, charity, and Quranic recitation
Strive to embody the values of compassion, justice, and selflessness that define our faith
As graduates of "Ramadan College," we're expected to uphold the highest standards of moral character and spiritual integrity. Let us rise to the challenge and make the lessons of Ramadan a lasting part of our lives.
