The Qur'an is the speech of Allah (كلام الله) and the most sacred text in Islam. Respecting it in both heart and action is an essential part of a Muslim's adab (etiquette) and a sign of true faith.

Allah says:

"This is the Book in which there is no doubt, a guidance for the God-conscious."
— Surah Al-Baqarah (2:2)

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"The best among you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it."
— Sahih al-Bukhārī (5027)

Respecting the Qur'an includes:

Being in a state of ṭahārah (purity) when touching it.

Reciting with tartīl (slow, measured pace).

Listening attentively when it is recited.

Avoiding placing it on the floor or in impure places.

"So when the Qur'an is recited, listen to it and be silent that you may receive mercy."
— Surah Al-Aʿrāf (7:204)

The companions would weep during its recitation and treat the Mushaf with utmost reverence. Honoring the Qur'an elevates hearts and invites Allah's mercy.
