Islam teaches compassion and kindness not only to humans but also to animals. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized mercy toward all creatures as a reflection of faith.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"Mercy is not removed from anything except that it makes it worse."
— Sunan Abi Dawood (4941)

He also narrated the story of a woman who was forgiven because she showed mercy by giving water to a thirsty dog.

The Qur'an instructs:

"And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision."
— Surah Hud (11:6)

The companions practiced kindness to animals; for instance, Abu Hurairah (RA), whose name means "Father of the Kitten," was known for caring for cats.

Islam prohibits cruelty, overburdening animals, and neglect. Kindness to animals is rewarded and is part of righteous behavior.

Showing compassion to all creatures reflects the mercy of Allah and cultivates a gentle, caring heart.
