Islam teaches beautiful etiquettes for entering and leaving the home, transforming ordinary actions into acts of remembrance and protection. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized beginning with Bismillah, greeting those inside, and invoking Allah's name.

When entering the house, the Sunnah is to say:

"Bismillah, wa-lajna wa bismillah kharajna, wa 'ala Rabbina tawakkalna."
"In the name of Allah we enter, in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we rely."
— Sunan Abu Dawud (5095)

He ﷺ also said:

"When a man enters his house and mentions Allah's Name upon entering and upon eating, Satan says: 'You have no place to stay and no dinner.'"
— Sahih Muslim (2018)

Greet with "As-Salamu 'Alaikum", even if the house is empty — angels will reply.

Upon leaving the house, say:

"Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'ala Allah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah."
"In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no power nor might except with Allah."
— Sunan Abu Dawud (5095)

The Sahaba followed this routinely, understanding that these actions ensure blessings, protection from harm, and strengthen tawakkul (trust in Allah) in daily life.
