As the Islamic calendar draws to a close, a truly extraordinary period is upon us. According to the National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) count, today marks the 25th of Dhul-Qa'dah, meaning the sacred month of Dhul-Hijjah—the final month of the Islamic year—is set to begin within days. With its arrival comes the most spiritually potent days of the entire year: the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.

Let this profound truth resonate: these ten days are more beloved to Allah than any other days, even surpassing the last ten blessed nights of Ramadan. Imagine the immense spiritual bounty awaiting us! As reported by Ibn 'Abbas, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stated, "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." When asked if this included even Jihad, he replied, "Not even Jihad in the path of Allah, except a man who goes out with his life and wealth and returns with neither." This underscores the unparalleled reward available during this sacred time.

If you aren't among the pilgrims performing Hajj this year, don't feel left out. Allah has generously provided numerous avenues to earn immense rewards right where you are.

Pathways to Immense Reward:

Fasting:
The Prophet (peace be upon him) consistently fasted the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah, especially the 9th – The Day of 'Arafah. Fasting on this single day has the astonishing power to expiate sins of the previous year and the coming one. Two whole years of sins forgiven for one sincere fast – can you truly imagine?

Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah):
Revive your heart and environment with the frequent remembrance of Allah. Recite "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest), "Alhamdulillah" (All praise is due to Allah), "La ilaaha illAllah" (There is no deity except Allah), and "SubhaanAllah" (Glory be to Allah). Let these phrases echo in your home, during your commute, and within your heart. Men can say it out loud, while women can recite softly.

Repentance (Tawbah):
These days are a golden opportunity to cleanse your slate. Turn to Allah with sincerity, expressing regret for your missteps and seeking His boundless mercy. He is waiting for you; don't delay this crucial act of purification.

Ud'hiyah (Sacrifice):
For those able, offer a strong, healthy animal as a gesture of gratitude and love. Remember, it is not the blood or the meat that reaches Allah, but your taqwa (consciousness of Allah), as highlighted in the Quran: "Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is your piety..." (Surah Al-Hajj 22:37).
This act symbolizes devotion and provides sustenance for the needy.

Let's seize this incredible gift. These are not ordinary days, and there's no guarantee we'll witness them again. Make every moment count.

May Allah grant us sincerity, strength, and the ability to fill these blessed days with fasting, dhikr, charity, repentance, and sacrifice. May He count us among those He loves and forgives. Ameen.
