The Yobe State Hisbah Commission recently carried out a significant enforcement exercise in Gashau community, located within the Bade Local Government Area. This operation involved the destruction of cartons of alcohol that had been confiscated for violating Shari'ah law, signaling the commission's unwavering commitment to maintaining societal morality and discipline.

Hisbah spokesperson, Sibawaihi Ukasha Gashua, confirmed the operation in an official statement on Saturday, November 1, 2025. He emphasized that the exercise was part of the commission's broader mandate to eliminate activities deemed immoral and contrary to the ethical values of the community.

The destruction of the alcohol followed a formal court order issued by the Lower Shari'ah Court. The court had authorized the disposal of the seized substances after thorough judicial proceedings, demonstrating adherence to legal and religious protocols in handling contraband items.

According to the statement, the confiscated alcohol was intercepted on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, during a security check. The items were discovered in a J5 vehicle originating from Jos, Plateau State, highlighting the commission's vigilant efforts in monitoring illegal distribution networks across the region.

Both the suspects and the seized items were presented before the Shari'ah court, where judgment was delivered in accordance with Islamic law. The sentencing and destruction of the alcohol underscore the legal framework and moral standards guiding the Hisbah Commission's activities.

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission continues to intensify its efforts toward eradicating immoral acts and promoting a disciplined society.
