The Kano State Hisbah Board arrested 26 women on Saturday at a hotel in Kano metropolis after receiving complaints from residents about suspected immoral behaviour at the location. The operation was conducted by the Islamic police, known as Hisbah, who are tasked with enforcing Sharia-related laws in the state.

Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, the Deputy Commander General of Hisbah, confirmed the arrests on Monday. He stated that the operation was carried out with the full support of military authorities, who played a significant role in its success.

"We sincerely appreciate the cooperation from the military and their commanders. Their support made this operation successful," Aminuddeen said during an interview with PUNCH.

According to Aminuddeen, several of the arrested women were found to be intoxicated. Officers also recovered many cartons of alcoholic drinks from the hotel during the raid, further supporting the allegations of illegal and immoral activities.

He encouraged residents to continue reporting similar incidents, whether in hotels or homes. He assured the public that every complaint would be taken seriously and acted upon quickly to protect public morality.

Aminuddeen emphasized that this operation is not a one-time event. The Hisbah Board plans to sustain these efforts as part of a broader campaign to cleanse the state of behaviour considered immoral under Islamic principles. The board continues to urge community members to support their mission by remaining vigilant and reporting unethical conduct.
