Israeli opposition leader Yair Golan is directly accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of actively blocking a ceasefire and prisoner swap agreement in Gaza.

Golan, leader of the Israeli Democratic Party, is demanding the current government be toppled because of this obstruction.

Writing on X, Golan cited a recent New York Times investigation that supports his claims. He stated that Netanyahu, Smotrich, and Ben Gvir are all preventing a deal.

According to Golan, these officials are blocking the agreement purely "to survive politically." Their actions prioritize their own positions over a resolution.

The opposition leader stressed that for the government, "the lives of hostages and soldiers are less important" than retaining their power.

These accusations highlight the deep political conflict surrounding efforts to secure peace and the return of hostages in the region.
