In a tragic incident on Sunday night, suspected terrorists, often referred to as bandits, carried out a deadly attack at Tipper Garage in Mpape, Abuja. The attack resulted in the death of Imam Ahmad Maidara and the abduction of Alhaji Salisu Danfulani, a well-known transporter in the area.

The assault took place around 8 pm, just after the evening prayers concluded. Eyewitnesses reported that as worshippers exited the mosque, the attackers ambushed them. Imam Maidara attempted to flee through a different route but was shot dead by bandits lying in wait.

Another person at the scene sustained injuries and was quickly taken to a hospital for treatment. After the attack, the assailants escaped into the mountainous terrain near the garage.

Comrade Hamza Muhammad, the national president of the Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW), confirmed the details of the attack. He stated that the body of Imam Maidara was later transported to his home in Gwagwa, Abuja, where he was laid to rest on Monday.

This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges posed by terrorist groups in Nigeria, raising concerns over public safety and the protection of religious leaders.
