JAKARTA, Nov 7 (Reuters) – At least 54 people were injured and hospitalized after an explosion rocked a mosque located within a school complex in Indonesia's capital, Jakarta, during Friday prayers, police confirmed.

According to city police chief Asep Edi Suheri, the blast occurred in the Kelapa Gading area of North Jakarta. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the explosion.

Suheri stated that the victims sustained varying degrees of injuries, from minor wounds to severe burns. Footage aired by KompasTV and MetroTV showed ambulances on standby and police cordoning off the area, though images indicated the mosque itself did not suffer major structural damage.
