The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 62 people for alleged immoral behavior during a raid in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area. The suspects, made up of 27 men and 35 women, were apprehended at the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) annex.

According to Deputy Commandant of the Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, the arrests followed credible intelligence from concerned residents. He confirmed that the joint operation was carried out in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Dr. Aminuddeen stated that the suspects had taken advantage of the persistent rainfall to engage in what the board described as immoral activities. He stressed that the Hisbah will not tolerate any violations of Shari'a law in the state and encouraged the public to continue reporting such incidents for immediate action.

The board also revealed that a similar operation was carried out at Tamburawa Bridge, where more individuals were apprehended for related offences. All the suspects are expected to face trial in court once investigations are concluded.

Just two weeks earlier, Hisbah operatives arrested 26 women at a Kano hotel over similar allegations. During that raid, several cartons of alcohol were confiscated, and many suspects were reportedly drunk at the time of arrest.

Dr. Aminuddeen appreciated the cooperation of the military and other security agencies in the successful operations. He assured that the board will sustain these efforts to cleanse Kano State of activities considered immoral under Islamic law.
