The UAE has agreed to contribute to a $25 billion gas pipeline project connecting Nigeria to Morocco and eventually Europe, boosting regional energy infrastructure and development.

Morocco's Minister of Energy Transition, Leila Benali, announced the UAE's support, alongside the IDB, OPEC Fund, and EIB, for the massive pipeline project, a significant step forward.

The project has completed feasibility and engineering studies, with Morocco and Nigeria leading the charge through a joint venture to manage the pipeline's development and operation smoothly.

The African-Atlantic Gas Pipeline will span 6,800km, crossing 15 African countries, and is expected to drive regional integration, industrial growth, and improved infrastructure for 400 million people.

Upon completion, the pipeline will be the world's longest offshore gas pipeline, cementing Morocco's position as a key player in regional energy and potentially in clean energy and green hydrogen production
