Kano's renowned businessman and philanthropist, Aminu Dantata, has passed away at 94. His private secretary, Mustapha Abdullahi-Junaid, confirmed his demise on Saturday, June 28, in a heartfelt statement.

"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un. It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved father, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and forgive his shortcomings," Junaid stated, with funeral details to follow.

The elder statesman reportedly passed in the early hours of Saturday in Abuja. Dantata was highly respected for his immense contributions to commerce, Islamic scholarship, education, and various humanitarian causes throughout his life.

He played a crucial role in expanding his family's vast business empire, initially inherited from his father, Alhassan Dantata, a prominent West African merchant from the early 20th century.

Over the years, Mr. Dantata diversified these interests into key sectors like construction, manufacturing, banking, agriculture, and oil and gas, cementing his influence.

Born on May 19, 1931, the late Dantata also held significant public and private sector leadership roles. He notably served in the Kano State Government and contributed to drafting Nigeria's 1979 Constitution, mentoring many along the way.
